Cosmetic & Facial Acupuncture
What is Facial Acupuncture?
The Chinese have been using facial acupuncture for thousands of years and unlike other cosmetic approaches it can help the face and body feel younger. Acupuncture can focus on areas and points on the face and help to improve elasticity and signs of ageing, it can also address underlying issues which can be contributing to areas of concern on the face. Through this approach better and longer lasting results can be achieved. It is a natural, safe and viable alternative to more invasive procedures without the risks or side effects.
Potential benefits & improvements of cosmetic or facial acupuncture
Facial Acupuncture has been shown to increase collagen production which helps to smooth out wrinkles and firm the skin. Bags around the eyes, drooping eyelids and sagging skin around the face and neck can be significantly reduced and toned up. The treatment stimulates local circulation of blood and lymph to the face, improves muscle tone, encourages tightening of the pores and brightens the eyes. It greatly reduces stress evident in the face, bringing out the beauty within.
What happens in a facial acupuncture treatment session?
At the first appointment, a full assessment of your medical history and any underlying health problems is taken. A discussion takes place as to which areas of the face you would like to improve or have concerns. The treatment involves inserting hair-thin needles into specific points on the face and into specific wrinkles and lines that want to be reduced. Some body points may also be used to improve your general constitutional and support the facial treatment. The needles will be left in place for aprox 20 minutes while you unwind and relax. Once the needles have been removed a variety of other traditional techniques may be used to stimulate the circulation and bring blood flow to the face.
A course of approximately 4 to 6 treatments is recommended. Most patients notice a difference after one or two treatments, however, the effects become most noticeable and lasting after 6 treatments. Each person responds differently, depending on the condition of their skin and lifestyle prior to treatment. Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance treatments of once a month can prolong the results for five to ten years.
